Toplis and Harding was established in 1790 by James Toplis later joined by William Daniel Harding in 1844. While the investigation of losses and risk analyses were limited to Great Britain and Ireland until the end of the 19th century, an expanding phase started in the first years of the new millennium. By the end of the 20th century, Toplis and Harding had developed to become one of the world's largest independent International Loss Adjusting and Surveying companies with more than 100 offices spread throughout the world.
At the beginning of the 1970s, the management in London decided to start business in Germany and in 1973 the branch office in Dusseldorf was founded. In 1975 Thomas A Wunderlich joined the company and was Managing Director of this office until he became a shareholder in 1991. In 1996 he took over the remaining shares.
In order to have a greater customer proximity for the local market in Northern Germany, in September 2000 a second branch was opened in Hamburg.
We are proud to continue the experience of generations of highly qualified loss adjusters under the name of Toplis and Harding and are committed to the best possible adjusting service for the insurers and underwriters around the world.
